The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), is a recognized worldwide leader in the development and supply of international standards.

Today, ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance safety, facilitate market access and trade, and build consumer confidence.

ASTM’s leadership in the  international standards development is driven by the contributions of its members: more than 30,000 technical experts among the largest in the world and representing 150 countries professionals. Working in an open and transparent environment and using the ASTM advanced  electronic infrastructure, ASTM members provide the test methods, the specifications, the guides and the practices that support industries and governments around the world.
A thousand are the universities , research centers and companies that use common standards, journals and proceedings of ASTM research conferences in their daily work, the study of materials and laboratory tests.

From a study in which a sample of about 1,500 universities and companies has been involved, it has been shown that students with a knowledge and understanding of the standards can get a real advantage in their work of study and development of new materials, compared to those who did not have this opportunity.

For all these reasons, 43% of test methods is supported by scientific and statistical studies coming from ASTM standards, allowing the same to win the primacy of the most important organization for Standardization in the world.
The ASTM Digital Library includes: over 12,500 standards, 123,000 pages of articles published in ASTM magazines, 1,550 ebooks, 29,000 technical papers, conference proceedings and all information engineering, including aerospace, chemical, civil, environmental , geological, health and safety, mechanical, nuclear, oil, soil science and solar engineering.
All ASTM contents are accessible through ASTM COMPASS, a unique research platform that in addition to having a sophisticated search engine that can reduce the time of research, provides the tools that help the user to work in a more smart manner. To add notes and images, to  highlight with different colors the text of  standards of interest and share it  with one or more working groups is possible through this platform.
